FIRST AND FOREMOST- SEAN NANOS HAS BEEN ALMOST FAMOUS-ED. WE HAVE KIDNAPPED HIM FOR THE REST OF TOUR TO

A. HELP OUT SINCE JEFF IS IN CRUTCHES (we’ll explain later)

AND C. TO MAKE US ALL LOOK COOLER.

So we played Baltimore, MD ON THE HOTTEST FUCKING DAY EVER!

We got to play @ the Baltimore Free Farm and not only did we sweat harder than any of us (and im SOOOOO serious when i say this) have ever sweat in our entire lives, but WE HAD OUR VERY FIRST REAL FANS DRIVE FROM D.C. TO BALTIMORE TO SEE US! ( and i mean these three awesome people had never met us before, they weren’t friends of friends… they heard our music on AOL and drove out to see us!)

We were SO ecstatic that these fine people thought we were good enough to waste gas/money on. They were the best first fans i could ever hope for.

That night we stayed with Scott and Sean’s parents at their Aunt’s house. It’s full of rescued cats and they pampered us while we were there. We finally ate some veggies, did some laundry, and they filled up our gas tank (so sweet).

We took off for Durham, NC the next day. Played Motorco Garage which was a really awesome bar/venue with the most amazing food trucks that chill in front of it on sundays but our audience that day was not the most animated bunch. However we did meet some really sweet people after the show who said they came out just to see us.

we left shortly after the show- stopped at a wendy’s, hit on the cashier (collectively), and checked into a best western because we had no other place to go / the futon in our bus is completely dead at this point.

side note- started reading Faust and (holy shit) it’s better than I thought it would be.

The past week has been hectic as all hell. We played Allston DIY Fest on the 21st and it was incredible. There were some amazing bands (The Dirty Virgins, ABADABAD) and the crowed almost tripled in size this year. Im very proud of my friends who helped put it all together.

After Allston, MA we drove down to New York and played a show @ The Living Room in Manhattan with Frank Fairfield who is an incredible “turn of the 1900s”-esque folk musician. He plays banjo, guitar and violin and if you ever get the chance to talk to him you’ll notice he speaks like a muffled 1920s blue collar fellow who may or may not have had his jaw wired shut. It’s truly amazing to watch him play and I would suggest trying to speak with him afterward because you wont fully understand his mind set until we opens his mouth.

Our next gig was Howth’s tour kick-off show @ Public Assembly in Brooklyn, NY.

We know them personally and are so proud to say so. We wish them the best of luck on their month long national tour.

Philly was next on the list and we played @ Phila Moca with Liz and the lost boys. They played jazz-inspired indie rock and their lead singer, Liz (duh), had the voice of a young Regina Spektor. They let us crash at their house and we ate disgusting/amazing chinese food at 1 in the morning. Because we woke up sweating, we decided to drive to Harrisburg, PA early to grab some dinner with our gracious hosts Scott & Mike of Bellevue Park. They planned a relaxing show for us in the community center of Bellevue Park and we had a very attentive and sweet audience to play for.

All in all, the U.S. is filled with more sweet and gracious people than we thought. For the most part, complete strangers have treated us better than some people we’ve known for years. We did not expect such generosity and kindness and we have come to understand that when you put yourself out there, more people are willing to help than you would ever think.

this is a sweet benefit show for Pussy Riot that will be happening in Allston, MA (after we leave, sadly).

We have spent the past three days in Allston, MA with our wonderful and beautiful friends, some of which are in a local band called The Dirty Virgins. We played The Middle East last night, saw a few familiar faces and tonight we’re attacking The White Haus in Jamaica Plain, MA.

I’ve been having such a good time seeing my Boston family that i almost forgot i was still on tour. ANOTHER MONTH OF THIS. its crazy to think a month of tour has already passed us by. Its been very interesting to say the least.

im not really going to blog anything worth reading right now cause i rather be hanging out with the fam.

Last night we played a birthday party for one of the curators, Kevin, of The Vault in Buffalo, NY. We played with Sons of an Illustrious Father who also happened to be on tour. Although an event prior to the show had taken away their excitement from playing, their songwriting talent still shined through in their performance; their lead guitarist Lilah Larson played Feist-esque licks and sang like a lark who had just downed a bottle of whiskey. They may have felt defeated but they played like kings.

We quite enjoyed our new friends for a moment before we both had to part ways to eat and pass the fuck out.

Our show last night @ Assemble in Pittsburgh, PA was cancelled so we got to spend time with one of Scott’s friends from home, Mike Pisano and his girlfriend Anya. Mike and Anya are artists. They live on the top floor of a deep-porched southern-comfort type home filled with porcelain owls, art, a hand made phallic/yonic chess board, instruments, and all their work materials. Mike directs visually stunning music videos among many other things.

Before playing a small set in the backyard for Mike, Anya and their downstairs neighbors, we ate the most wonderful indian food from People’s Restaurant and sipped on the best chai i’ve had in the east. If you’re ever in Pittsburgh, go to People’s and get some fucking chai. It’s too good to pass up.

Nothing too much to report. The boys have been on my case about this blog so im trying to take it more seriously or something.

Last night we played @ Tree Bar in Columbus, OH. It’s a small music club hidden away in a sleepy town off an alley way. The booker didnt show up so we had to set up the PA and all the bands took charge for the night.

We played with Nat Hagey and Houndstooth Bindles. Nat played glorious singer- songwriter stuff and Houndstooth Bindles played Surf/Country/Punk. The lead singer of Houndstooth Bindles, Virginia Pishioneri, played banjo like it was a sweet baby Bullet Fender guitar and had a voice reminiscent of Danzig. It was pretty kick ass. With covers of Woody Guthrie tunes, they stole our country punk hearts.

We ended up parking the bus in the alley way across from the club and slept there for the night. Luckily it was a relatively temperate night and we figured we didnt need to harass anyone for their floor space or worse, front the money for a shitty motel room.

Jefe really fucked up his ankle last night, though, while in search for the nearest snack shack. SNACK FIEND-ING IS DANGEROUS MY FRIENDS. JEFE IS LIVING PROOF. I had to buy him a walking stick today- not the easiest find apparently.

But aside from the dangers of hunger, we had a good night. And today marked the first day in three weeks that we didnt wake up sweating!

WWSD?

Our bus broke down yesterday. We have been stuck in the middle of fucking no-where Markle, IN for the last 28 hours. Everyone is in a shit mood right now. This is the 6th time in three weeks we’ve had to put the bus in a shop and lets be honest, mechanics are assholes. “Its as if all mechanics have taken an oath that states they should go as slowly as possible and be the least efficient and careful as possible” a wise man named schlen once told me. And he’s fucking right. Half of the bus problems have been because the last mechanic wasnt thorough enough and either over looked something or just didnt fucking care enough to fix whatever they found.

fuck mechanics. If one of you out there is a mechanic and believes im wrong, PROVE IT.

Other than the bus problems, tour has been wonderful. All of our shows have gone over swimmingly and we have met some amazing people and seen some INCREDIBLE artists.

My personal favorite thus far is the Cincinnati-based band Happy Maladies.

Truly inspiring musicians who are too damn humble to even know how phenomenal they are (in a good way).
